I am honored to serve as the Director of Middle & Upper School at The Lang School, where I bring my passion for innovative and inclusive education to our vibrant community. I hold a B.S. in Education from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, an M.Ed. and Reading Specialist Certification from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, and am currently pursuing a certificate in Instructional Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
My career in education began in 2008 as an ELA, Social Studies, and Reading Intervention teacher in Pennsylvania. After eight years in public schools, I moved to New York City to become a founding Middle School teacher at The Neighborhood Charter School of Harlem, where I taught across all contents. In 2018, I transitioned to a curricular leadership role, designing Humanities curriculum tailored to each cohort and providing instructional coaching and professional development for staff. A passion for working with twice-exceptional students brought me to The Lang School in the spring of 2022.
Working with our twice-exceptional population is incredibly rewarding, as I thrive on discovering unique approaches to helping students build independence, self-confidence, and the ability to connect authentically with others; skills that will continue to serve them well beyond their time at Lang. I am dedicated to creating an environment that embraces all students, empowering them to explore their identities and grow into thoughtful, informed members of our community. This involves fostering a sense of belonging, encouraging self-expression, and celebrating diverse perspectives.
I am grateful for the opportunity to continue learning alongside my colleagues as we build an inclusive and supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to remove the mask and be themselves. Outside of Lang, I enjoy reading, exploring NYC’s rich history and architecture, spending time with my growing family in Pennsylvania and the Catskills, and soaking up the beauty of Central Park with my puppy, Josie.
